Am I HWID Banned? Signs, Tests and Next Steps
Compare account, IP and hardware-ban patterns, understand the limits of self-diagnosis, and use a local questionnaire to estimate the likely restriction.

If a game restriction appears to follow the same computer across accounts or networks, hardware-based enforcement is one possibility. No external website can inspect a publisher's private ban database, so the goal is to compare patterns and collect evidence for support β not to claim certainty.
The four ban types at a glance
Before assuming a hardware ban, rule out the simpler ones:
- Account ban β primarily follows a login or account ID.
- IP or network restriction β is associated with a public network address or network reputation.
- Temporary suspension β has an expiry or review period defined by the publisher.
- HWID ban β is associated with a device fingerprint and may affect permitted accounts used on the same machine.
The clean-account test (use only if the publisher permits it)
If the publisher's rules allow it:
- Create a brand-new account with an email that was never linked to the banned account.
- Use it on the same PC.
- If that genuinely clean account is flagged anyway β at launch or within a few matches β the ban is following the machine, not the account.
That pattern supports a hardware-ban hypothesis, but it is not conclusive: linked accounts, platform trust systems and delayed enforcement can look similar. Stop after one permitted test; do not borrow another person's account or repeatedly create accounts.
Other signs of a hardware ban
- A fresh account is banned almost immediately, before you have really played.
- The game launches but matchmaking hangs or silently fails β some games block flagged hardware from matches instead of showing a ban message.
- A fresh account is banned after just one to three matches, with no cheat software on the PC.
- Other, unrelated accounts on the same PC are also affected.
- Reinstalling Windows did not help.
- A VPN did not help.
Use the free interactive checker
Instead of working through the logic manually, you can use our HWID Ban Checker β a free, fully-local tool that walks you through eight questions (can you log in? does a VPN help? did a reinstall help? etc.) and returns the closest pattern with a relative match score.
It does not query any game's servers β no external tool can β but the behavioural pattern is usually enough to narrow it down with high confidence.
What an HWID ban actually is
An anti-cheat may combine hardware, operating-system, account and network signals into a device-risk record. Possible inputs include motherboard or disk identifiers, network adapters and installation-specific values, but publishers rarely disclose the exact combination.
A fingerprint based mainly on firmware-backed values can survive a new account, email address or network. Whether it survives a Windows reinstall depends on how much weight the system gives hardware values versus installation-specific identifiers such as MachineGuid.
What to do if you are HWID banned
- Stop creating new accounts on the affected PC. Each one can add to the flag history and weaken any future appeal.
- Screenshot the exact error and save the sanction email before changing anything.
- File an appeal with the publisher first. Cheat-detection appeals rarely succeed, but it is the legitimate path.
- Review which identifiers Windows exposes. The Windows utility can display several values that an anti-cheat may consider, but it cannot reveal the publisher's fingerprint or ban record.
We do not provide or endorse HWID spoofers or ban-bypass instructions. Use the publisher's appeal and support process for an authoritative resolution.
If it is NOT a hardware ban
- Account ban β use the publisher's appeal or account-support process.
- IP or network restriction β ask the publisher or network administrator to confirm the cause; do not assume a VPN is permitted.
- Temporary suspension β wait for the stated expiry and check the official status or enforcement notice.
Use the ban checker any time you are not sure which one you are facing.
